So it is getting close to the end of the year and I find I've been making plans for January and beyond and I have no place to write these things down.  With three kids & hubby, schedules are hard to keep track of, and that is why I LOVE the Mom's Family Calendar by Sandra Boynton.

This wall calendar provides a column for up to five family members, perfect for us, right?  With over 500 stickers, it makes reminders very easy.  After over 3 years of using Mom's Family Calendar, I can't imagine my life without it.

This would make a great gift for any busy mom/family for the holidays.

Beat Cabin Fever with these great ideas:

To contact us Click HERE
It's cold outside and you and the kids want to get out of the house. Here are some great activities in the Metro Detroit area that will chase those cabin fever blues away.

Visit an indoor playground. There are many places for your child to go that will help them expend their energy. New businesses are opening in the Metro Detroit area, which means more fun for our children. Previously, the choices were limited to visiting a fast food play place or a local mall with a play area. Now there are options like Jungle Java, Boogie Babies, and other indoor playgrounds. These are great places for your child to burn off that extra energy, meet new friends, and especially give mom and dad a chance to relax while the kids are having fun.
Visit an indoor water park or pool. The Warren Indoor Water Park is a great place to splash and play on a cold winter day. There are also many other places in the Metro Detroit area that have indoor pools with open swim times.
Go bowling!!! A great way to burn off some energy and pick up some math skills. Ask the bowling alley if you can get a traditional scoring sheet so that you can show your child how to keep score.
Go flip crazy at a Metro Detroit gymnastics center. Many gyms now have open gym times so the public can come in and enjoy the facilities for an hour or two. Jump, flip, tumble, balance and just have fun.
Bounce your rainy day away. Indoor bounce houses have popped up all over the Metro Detroit area. Indoor inflatable slides, obstacle courses, climbing walls and bounce houses give your child plenty of opportunities to have fun. The best part for parents is the nap that will inevitably follow.
Read a book at your local library. Many Metro Detroit libraries and book stores offer story times for a variety of age groups. They also host fun activities, offer coloring pages and some have toys and play areas. What a great place to learn, meet new friends, and have fun on a rainy day.
Visit a Museum. The Metro Detroit area is filled with great learning experiences through our fantastic museums. Whether your child is into Art, Science or History, you have plenty of options. The newly reopened Michigan Science Center, DIA (now free) and other museums have great programs designed just for kids.
See a Movie or Show. Visit a Metro Detroit movie theater or see a live performance at one of the local theaters. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has special engagements just for children, while the Fisher and Fox Theaters often host performances geared toward younger audiences.
Go skating at one of the many Metro Detroit roller or ice skating arenas. A great family activity for a cold winter day. Check your local rink for open skate times.
Is your Metro Detroit business a great place for families to visit to chase away cabin fever? If so, please contact us. owner@123child.com

A big thank you goes out to my son who made this awesome dinner for us on family night a while back.  If you like sloppy joe, but not the mess, try out this simple recipe.

You will need:
1.5 pounds of ground beef or turkey
1 can of sloppy joe mix
1 can of refrigerated biscuits

Preheat the oven to the temperature called for on your biscuits.
Brown your ground beef or turkey.

While the meat is cooking, use a rolling pin to flatten your biscuits.

Place each biscuit in a greased and floured extra large muffin tin.

When the meat is browned add the can of sloppy joe and heat according to the directions on the can.

Fill each cup with sloppy joe mix.

Optional: seal the edges of the biscuit.

Bake according to time and temperature on the biscuits.

Enjoy!!!!

Cinch Door Insulation System

To contact us Click HERE
Guest blogger: Chancellor Wyman (my husband)

We received the Cinch door insulation system. This particular system uses adhesive backing on metal strips instead of screws to adhere to the wooden frame of a door to press up rubber strips against to door to help insulate from any air flow in or out.

The instructions consisted simply of 4 pictures of measuring, cutting, pulling off the backing of the adhesive, and then applying it around the outside portion of the door. While the simple instructions were meant to make it look easy, there were a few snags I encountered.

The first issue came when I had to use a hacksaw to cut the metal strips. The best way to do this is to remove the rubber inserts since they can get in the way of fully cutting through. It's best to use a pair of sharp scissors or a box cutter to match them up to size. The main issue was when cutting the metal, it tended to bend. I even made sure I was using a new hacksaw blade, but it still bent on me.
Also, the best way to install these strips is to close the door and then adhere the strips to the frame, making sure that the rubber is pressed up against the door to create a seal. I did encounter an issue with the frames that I bent since they didn't adhere flush to the doorframe. I ended up using screws to keep them in place, which sort of defeats the purpose of having the adhesive.

The other item that came with the door frame insulation was a covering for the bottom that also consisted of a metal strip with rubber insulation. This used 3M adhesive as well to adhere to the door. Since we already had bottom insulation installed on the front door, I used this on our side door. This was much easier to install as I just needed to measure the width and cut it with a hacksaw. There was no worry about making sure the rubber strip lay flush to the door as this was just meant to seal to the bottom and had give to it.

I was a little bit more careful this time and did not bend the metal.

In general, the idea is a good one, but I felt there could have been more detailed instructions to assist, especially with warnings about possibly bending the metal and the best way one could cut the metal by removing the rubber inserts.

Disclosure: I received a Cinch Door Insulation System in exchange for my review. All thoughts and opinions shared are my husband's. Your experience may differ.
