To contact us Click HERE
If you are planning on heading out to a Metro Detroit park in the next few days, bring along your camera, take some notes and you might win $50 from Metro Detroit Mommy.

We are looking for guest bloggers to tell us about their favorite local parks.  So here is what you need to do:

  1. Take pictures of the major play structures at your local park.  Try not to include any faces of children unless they are your own and you do not mind them being published on our website and Facebook pages.  (If you get a few, that is okay, I can blur them)
  2. Note the name and location of the park.
  3. Is the park part of a school with restricted hours when school is in session?
  4. Does the park have public restrooms?
  5. Note the cleanliness of the park.
  6. Are garbage cans available, but not too close to play areas?
  7. What other special features does the park offer?
    1. basketball, soccer, baseball etc
    2. pavilions
    3. water fountain
    4. picnic tables
    5. seating for parents near structures
  8. Note what makes your park special.

Use the above information to write a short review of your local park, include at least 5 images and send them to owner@123child.com for consideration.  Be sure to include your name (and a pseudonym if desired) and if applicable, your website name and web address for inclusion in the blog.

More Rules:
  • You must be at least 18 years of age and a Metro Detroit resident to enter.
  • Each entry will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in our blog.  Not every entry will be included.
  • Be sure to check our current reviews as we will not accept/publish repeat reviews.
  • You must review a park in the Metro Detroit area (Wayne, Oakland, Macomb & Washtenaw Counties) for consideration.
  • You may enter as many times as you like as long as each review is of a different park.

VFW Park in Royal Oak

To contact us Click HERE
VFW Park is located on the west side of Campbell Road, just north of Lincoln (10 1/2 Mile) in Royal Oak.  This park has one large play structure with many slides, a bridge and other fun features.

This park also has infant/toddler swings along with regular sized swings available.  Pavilions with plenty of picnic tables makes this a great park for a picnic.  Restrooms and drinking fountains are available in the community center which is right across the street.

Overall this park was rather clean.  It was very soggy due to the recent rains, but the play areas were all pretty dry.  Two benches are situated near the playground so parents can relax while watching their children play.

One big drawback to this park is it's proximity to Campbell.  There is no barrier between the park and busy road, although the structure is a good distance away.  If your child is prone to bolting away, you will need to be very vigilant if you visit this park.
